Jihye Kim obtained B.F.A. and M.F.A in ceramics at Ewha Womans University and received a M.F.A at Kent State University. She finished the graduate course of Art history, Theory, and Criticism at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and took a Ph.D. in Studies in Art & Culture at Ewha Womans University after she returned to Korea. She held 13 solo exhibitions in Korea, the U.S. and Canada from 1994 to 2019.  She also participated in 180 special and group exhibitions.  She is currently working on a research on Luce Irigaray, a feminist theorist, while engaging in her ceramic installations. She currently serves as an associate professor of ceramic arts at Ewha Womans University
